Men only question about electric shavers?

My son’s face is a mess. I got him disposable razors and shaving cream, but he has red bumps, long hairs under the chin, and nicks. I don’t know what to say, because actually I never had to shave my face. Does an electric razor stop problems due to incompetent shaving? Is it easier? If the answer is yes, what is a good type to get? They are so expensive it would have to be a Christmas gift, I don’t want to get the wrong thing.

An electric shaver isn’t a cure for all of these problems, but it can help.

Contrary to what you may think, you can still get minor nicks with an electric, I know I have, though it’s rare, and mostly only happens on thinner more sensitive areas, like under the chin on the neck.

You can also still get skin irritation, in fact personally I think a nice new sharp razor is *less* irritating that an electric shaver on sensitive areas.

Finally, an electric shaver doesn’t work very well on longer hairs; they usually get missed, so you have to shave regularly to avoid them.

I guess it probably comes down to a personal preference; I actually use both.

If I were you I would try to find the lowest priced electric shaver and see if your son likes it. If not, he can just learn to do a better job with a regular razor.

If he does use regular razors, he’ll get the best results if he shaves right after a shower so the hairs are software, and/or first applies a shaving gel and lets it sit a little while to give it time to soften the hairs, and he also would do well to replace the razor or blades every few days.
