Electric Shaver Disadvantages
My 11 year old wants to shave her legs. I think that she is too young. Any one out there with answers?
She insist that all of her classmates are shaving their legs regularly and she is only in the fifth grade. She has taken (with out permission) my razors and electric shaver and used them on herself a couple of times. I have told her that I think she should wait until she is 14 or 15 years old to shave, however she keeps bringing up the subject and refuseds to let it die. I am so tired of the sulking because I say no and the sneeking to get the job done. The last time she did she cut her ankel area and wore a bandage for a week. I am at a disadvantage here as she can be very strong headed. I want what is best for her. Is there anyone out there with some good advice. I can sure use it.
I started around 5th grade, age 11. Girls start puberty at different ages. If she feels her legs are hairy, let her do it. It’s a self-confidence thing. Allowing this kind of thing–especially coupled with teaching her the proper way to do it and some good communication–will definitely help solve some problems.
Give in to some of these small battles now so you’ll stand a better chance of winning the big ones (smoking, sex) later because she’ll know that you’re willing to compromise and communicate. The little things that make children want to rebel can escalate very quickly. Pick your battles.
