Do you have any tips for using an electric razor?

I just got a Phillips Norelco 8240XL (a tripleheader) for Christmas. It didn’t quite get all of the hairs and irritated my skin somewhat. It actually took me longer than using a regular razor with the time it took going back over places that the razor didn’t get the first time. Do any of you electric razor users out there have any tips for me?
