How to prevent redness and pimples from shaving?

So I just recently got a new razor (double edge safety), a boar hair brush, and a glycerin base lavender shaving cream. It is quite an amazing set, I really enjoy using them and get a great shave as well.

The problem is that only on the corners of my mouth (below the lips and to the left and right) I am getting redness and small pimples. Now I used to get this when I was using my electric razor and my alcohol based after/pre shave. For some reason it is only on this part of my face that I am getting this irritation and nowhere else (except for my neck but that is for a different reason [I think]).

I’m going to try shaving the corners of my mouth a couple more times just in case I am not shaving properly, and hope that it will get better with time. I was really hoping that getting this new shaving set would solve this problem (and for the majority of my face it has).

Any ideas what I can do to prevent this?

Try using a moisturizer when you are done. Some people’s skin is just sensitive. I know it sounds girly but it really might help. Get a good aftershave (which is basically just moisturizer for men) that isn’t alcohol-based. Nivea makes moisturizers and facial products for men or you could buy one that is marketed toward women. It’s really all the same.

Irritation is from, well… irritation. It could be that on those areas you are holding the razor differently or at an awkward angle. Maybe you are shaving harder there as well. Just go slowly and take your time. That’s the best I can say to you. Lol. I don’t shave there, sorry. :0)
